The Department of Music of The Chinese University of Hong Kong is inviting applications for the position of Assistant Professor in Historical Musicology.
Applicants should have: (i) a PhD degree in a relevant field; (ii) a primary research area in historical musicology (18th – 20th century) with a secondary specialty in pedagogy and global musicology; (iii) a record of outstanding publications and successful grant applications, or clear potential thereof.
The appointee is expected to strengthen and complement the Department’s research activities and to actively apply for external competitive grants. Duties include (a) conducting top-tier independent and joint research; (b) teaching two courses per semester at the undergraduate/postgraduate level; (c) supervising students’ projects and theses; and (d) assisting in administrative duties.
Appointment will initially be made up to three years initially commencing January 2022, which, may lead to longer-term appointment or substantiation.
