The Faculty of Humanities is looking for a historical musicologist with a strong, international reputation and interdisciplinary outlook. The successful candidate has outstanding qualifications in research and teaching, is conversant with the latest developments in musicology and has an interdisciplinary vision for the field; an additional area of expertise complementing historical musicology is an asset. The chair can articulate an inspired ambition in line with the strategic plans of the department, the Faculty of Humanities, and Utrecht University at large.
The chair plays a pro-active, leading role in teaching and research and supports innovations in line with current national and international developments in musicology and interdisciplinary research. The chair is also expected to initiate activities that enhance the visibility of (historical) musicology in contemporary society and to play a central role in furthering the contacts of the musicology programmes with conservatoires and other relevant music institutions in the Netherlands and abroad.
